Do More 24, coming on Thursday, June 2, is a 24-hour fundraising effort organized by United Way of the National Capital Area that brings together nonprofit organizations (more than 600), companies and regular people committed to making a difference locally. This focused “movement” encourages donors to contribute to the causes and organizations closest to their hearts to help solve this region’s most pressing social challenges.

Last year, 11,000 Do More 24 donors contributed more than $1.4 million to participating organizations, which, in turn, allowed those nonprofits to fill holes in their budget, buy desperately needed new equipment and serve more people in need across our region.

The Barker Adoption Foundation is participating for the first time in Do More 24.  Barker will spotlight its older child adoption program, Project Wait No Longer, for donor support.  Since its first placement in 2007, Project Wait No Longer has successfully introduced more than 100 children from the foster care system into permanent, loving families.  Fundraising support is critical for this program as more than 100,000 children are still waiting for families and tragically, after the age of 10, a child’s chances for adoption drop by 50%. To see how your individual contributions can make a meaningful impact, please check out Barker’s Do More 24 fundraising page and please consider Barker on June 2nd.  Thank you!
