I read through my email and found an excellent resource for foster and adopted youth. Youth now have access to a private, moderated facebook group by and for youth and young adults to connect; share ideas, inspiration and success. Youth also have the opportunity to learn about what is going on in the world of foster care and adoption. You can email Nathan Ross ( to be added to the group.

Transitioning into a forever family can be a stressful time for a child. They may wonder if they will fit in, will they be “given up on,” and a host of other concerns. One way to help your child know that they are part of the family is by “claiming them.”The act of claiming a child involves claiming actions of the child, likes and dislikes, etc. and attributing them to traits within your family. For example, “you are just like me, you like to have whipped cream with your ice cream.” Or “you are just like your dad, you guys know how to fix just about everything.”

Link: Mykal's Wednesday's Child Story - Before His AdoptionThis is a video of a Wednesday’s Child Segment that aired back in 2011. This little boy was matched with a Project Wait No Longer family. One of my favorite aspects of our program is seeing families come together and the happiness it brings to both the child and parents. I will share the success story next.
