Event Description

Dr. Shapiro will lead an interactive discussion on understanding adolescence and collaborative problem solving; including problems with home behavior, school, sex, drugs, screen time, and launching; with special attention to the adopted teen. Most parents – regardless of whether they adopted their children or they were born biologically - describe the adolescent and teen years as the most challenging phase of parenting. The Barker Adoption Foundation is pleased to welcome Dr. Dan Shapiro, a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician and the Director of Parent Child Journey to present an interactive workshop for parents of adolescents, with special attention focused on adopted teenagers. The workshop will explore collaborative problem solving, and cover issues including behavior at home and at school, academics, difficult relationships, sex, substance abuse, screen time, fostering independence and “launching.” For more information click here.
