Join us for an afternoon workshop on Sunday, October 20 from 1 PM to 3 PM designed for you and your middle schooler (6th to 8th grade)!
During this workshop middle school (6th to 8th grade) adoptees and their parents (in concurrent separate groups) to have the chance to connect with each other and explore their feelings about adoption identity in a comfortable, fun, and engaging day. The tween/teen group will use creative and artistic ways of communicating feelings including- Digital Media, photography, music, and movie clips.
Adoptive identity will be a focus of exploration.
A concurrent parent workshop will be taking place at the same time designed to provide parents with education on identity development with a focus being on the specific process for adopted tweens/teens. Practical strategies will be explored that foster healthy development and ways to strengthen communication and relationships. Ask questions, share stories, get support from other parents and talk to an adoption-competent counselor that will facilitate group discussion and provide specific ways you can help your middle schooler create a healthy sense of self and positive identity.
