Event Description

Teen Connections at Barker's 25th Annual Adoption & Foster Care Conference:  Let's Talk About Adoption

This year, Barker’s popular annual Teen Connections program will be conveniently held at the same time and place as Barker’s annual conference, where adopted teens are invited to spend the day connecting with each other at a program designed just for them. It will include engaging and fun activities and workshops exploring: thoughts about adoption, identity as adoptees, feelings about birth parents, and peer and social issues. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in several of the general conference activities.

The conference program for teens will be led by professional staff who were themselves adopted, or have personal experience with adoption.  Although the programming will be separate, the program will start and end at the same time as the general conference, making it easier for families to carpool to these wonderful events together!

Facilitators: Kristen Reighard, School Counselor and Adopted Person, and Seth Solondz, LCSW-C and School Social Worker
