The Health at Every Size (HAES) Approach and Its Practical Application to Client Work (Part 2)
Thursday, May 27 from 9:30 AM – 11:45 AM ET
Presenter: Alex Altman
Cost: $35 and 2 CEUs
Participants will gain experience on the harmful effects of fatphobia and diet culture at both societal and individual levels.
Join us as we welcome Alex Altman back for a presentation on applying the Health at Every Size framework to clinical work with clients. For those who weren’t able to attend Part I of this training, we’ll quickly review what we learned last time about the HAES and Intuitive Eating approaches for context, and we’ll take it a few steps further this time. Participants will explore the harmful effects of fatphobia and diet culture at both societal and individual levels. You will gain experience in learning how to start unpacking our own internalized fatphobia and examine ways in which we may experience and perpetuate weight stigma. We’ll also learn how to begin shifting towards body acceptance, body liberation, and body trust in our work and how to encourage this for our clients, too.
*Please note that this training meets the DC social work license public health requirement
