Join us on Wednesday, October 28 from 9:30A to 11:45A EDT for "Cultural Considerations In the Clinical Treatment of LGBTQ Persons" Training Session.
For some straight-identifying family service workers, working with LGBTQ families can be a bit precarious. You may not know exactly what to ask or suggest, for fear of saying the wrong thing and alienating the potential parents/clients. In this workshop, you will learn more about LGBTQ culture, potential hidden biases, and practical ways to create more aligned relationships with your clients. There will be some didactic information; however, be prepared to dialogue, ask questions, and be engaged. The workshop is presented by Mike Giordano, LICSW (a return presenter for Barker) who has over 20 years of experience educating professionals on LGBTQ experiences. He is also in private practice and an adoptive father himself.
Presenter: Mike Giordano, LICSW
Attendees will receive 2 CAT I CEU’s (meets DC LGBTQ Cultural Competency Requirement)
