Event Description

Session 2: Discussing race, privilege, and adoption with your child

Adopted children of color with white adoptive parents benefit from white privilege while also experiencing racism and complicated racial identities. This makes conversations about race and racism with transracial adoptees nuanced and necessary. In this session, participants will gain practice navigating this responsibility.

In this session we discuss the obligation to discuss race, racism, and race privilege with transracial adoptees. What concepts and topics should you be comfortable discussing in order to fulfill this ongoing obligation?
