Event Description

Session 3: “Who am I?”: Helping your transracially adopted child navigate their racial and cultural identity

Transracial adoptees often have complex racial and cultural identities. Unfortunately, society, peers, and family members often pressure transracial adoptees to pick between two options (e.g., “Are you white or are you black?” “Are you Chinese or are you White?”).

In this session, we will discuss how to promote identity exploration that resists dualities. Participants will gain tools and insights to help them support their transracially adopted child with thinking through their racial and cultural identities.
