Join Barker’s webinar event on a prevalent Post Adoption topic:
"How to Talk About Adoption in the Middle and High School Years”
Tuesday, June 15 from 7- 8:30 pm.
Who should tell? What do you tell? How do you tell?
Get equipped with the right tools and tips to talk with your adolescent child about adoption!
Adoption Expert Eliza Niemann, LCSW-C, LICSW, Adoption Social Worker, will address topics including race and birth culture, connections with birth family (if open adoption), questions about birth family, filling in pieces of the adoption story, fostering resilience, and healthy identity formation. Eliza will provide ample time for discussion and questions.
The Middle and High School years are key developmental times for all children - regardless of whether they were adopted or born biologically to their parents. Naturally, adolescents who were adopted will have additional thoughts and questions regarding their adoption and biological background at this stage. This webinar will provide parents of adopted middle and high school-aged children with the perspective on how their adolescent children may be processing their adoption at this phase, provide guidance on how to respond to their questions, and when it may be helpful to initiate discussion even if their child is not asking.
Not available June 15? Don’t worry. Register now and we’ll send you the recorded version to watch at your convenience.
