Saturday evening, March 5th, Barker is celebrating its 70th Anniversary with a benefit gala at The National Museum for Women in the Arts. The entire Barker community is invited to attend this festive event, “Celebrating a Lasting Legacy.”

The evening will feature a silent auction with over 100 AMAZING items including: prime section 111 tickets to a Washington Capitals game with an Alex Ovechkin signed jersey, one week at a house in Fanghetto, Italy, a small picturesque thousand-year-old Italian village, vineyard tours/tastings, dinner at Washington's #1 restaurant, Fiola Mare and other top rated Washington restaurants, gorgeous paintings and photos, spa treatments, children's gifts and parties, and SO MUCH MORE. Spend time with old friends and new, ejoying cocktails amidst the gorgeous art of the museum’s galleries, followed by a seated dinner for an expected 350 guests in the Great Hall.  As is tradition, there will be a wonderfully nostalgic Barker family video slide show, followed by cameo appearances by 3–4 Barker adoptees who will share their adoption stories, and remarks by Executive Director Marilyn Regier. Barker parent, Steve Inskeep, of NPR’s Morning Edition, will serve as host for the evening’s program. The gala will give Barker families and friends the chance to meet, reconnect, and support Barker’s longstanding legacy of seven decades of building families and changing lives.

The National Museum of Women in the Arts is the only major museum in the world solely dedicated to recognizing women’s creative contributions by bringing to light remarkable women artists of the past while also promoting the best women artists working today, thereby assuring great women artists a place of honor now and into the future.

Now 70 years strong, Barker’s outstanding legacy of providing lifelong services to all those whose lives have been touched by adoption will be recognized, celebrated, and assured at the 70th Anniversary Benefit Gala, whose proceeds will ensure Barker’s mission now and for future generations.
