Link: the6parkers: Parenting A Former Foster Child: Like Learning To Ride A Bike. You Fall A Lot, But Then You Learn How To Ride.

This is a repost of a blog I found on AdoptUsKids (please click the link above to read the full post). When I was reading through the blog, it reminded me of many families we work with in Project Wait No Longer. I think this post does a great job at illustrating some of the challenges but it also shows how these parents were able to see the past the behaviors and celebrate the special moments they have with their children. The post ends with this amazing quote “Hang in there. Forgive yourself. Forgive your child. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. Because, in the end and along the way, you will have those amazing moments that you imagined and some that you never saw coming." This is true for majority of the families we see through our program, once they overcome the challenges and build trust with their child - the family unit tends to flourish.
